Cuisine Nouvelle Vague
- Book Design
Cuisine Nouvelle Vague, is a cook book with recipes inspired by the films of the French New Wave. Each recipe is associated to a particular movie, and attributed to a famous director.
The idea behind the layout was to evoke a 1960’s French film, while presenting the instructions in a logical way for a novice cook - while only utilizing type. Each recipe is presented in a two page spread: the left page being an introduction, designed to mimic a movie poster of the era, and the right page being the cooking instructions.
The description of each dish is cleverly called the “synopsis,” while the ingredients are the cast, and the directions the “plot."
